Before the 935 I have a Fenix 3 HR, before that a Garmin 920XT and others before. I really want to like the the 935, I love the size and weight of it, the battery life, the fit, the operating system and I like the idea of what its meant to do - I say idea of what its meant to do because I find it horribly unreliable. Keep one eye on the altimeter. its still creepy after many many years and its garmin masters cannot regulate its behaviour. watch out for irregular behaviour like when its starting to cheat on you. You can fall off the cliff after calibration. after calibration. Please garmin sort this. 60mtrs drop it was present in my old fenix 6 solar on So far I’ve gone through 1x Fenix 7S solar and 2x Fenix 7 solars in the last 3months, all with similar issues. Total Ascent seems to over-read by anything between 15 and 20%. This when compared to Edge 520 and Forerunner 735XT units which both show almost identical TA readings on the same route on the same day. Hi all, i'm looking to see if any other community members have had similar issues before I contact Garmin support. I have a 3 month old Fenix 6X Pro, i have been using it successfully for the last few months marathon training. At some point during yesterdays run, the optical HR sensor and a number of other features stopped working.
When I bought a used Garmin Fenix 5x, I first calibrated the barometer manually, in my place I set the barometric pressure accurately via accu weather. Then I saw on Google Earth (at the bottom right corner you have the coordinates and exact altitude!) manually calibrated the altitude.
Since the update to 12.20 the altimeter no longer shows correctly. Before the update, I always had a height of 38 meters where I lived. Since the update to 12.20 the altimeter shows 108 meters in the same place. I already calibrated the altimeter via GPS, but it stays at 108 meters, which is definitely too high.
Since updating my unit, the altimeter consistently varies wildly. For example, every morning my unit (which I sync at night at my home) s significantly less than it should be. My home is at 162m ASL but since the v7.00 update, leaving it on my counter over night, I will wake up to it showing 40m or even a few times -100m, etc. Since update to V12 firmware, I'm experiencing issues with the altimeter of my Fenix 5. A few hours after the upgrade, on December 14th, I went for a 11km run and got totally messed up elevation data. I live in Belgium (Minimum : Sea level - Maximum: 600m), and I had a minimum altitude of -500m and a Max of 10649m (Screenshot 1)
Connect your garmin to your PC and copy this file into the Garmin/app folder and it should be ok. You should see an altimeter app into the Garmin. be aware you need to be outside to use. During the initiation, the Garmin will get a position fix, which will be assumed to be the dropzone.
