What would cause you to cancel plans for a first date at the last minute? I know there are hundreds of potential reasons but this has happened the last 3 dates I've had planned - a day or two before I'll receive a message to the effect 'hey, sorry life is so busy for me at the moment and I'm not in the right headspace for dating and I don't I have friends that stick to plans. If they have to cancel they will give a reason and then come up with a plan to meet up another time instead. However, I also have these other friends. They either cancel plans last minute (1h before meeting up) or they message back the next day saying 'oh so sorry, I was really busy'.
We had a small party with just my parents and siblings at a small venue planned. Everything paid for, decorations bought, giant cake ordered, cute dress for her, etc. We ended up celebrating at home, just the three of us while wearing masks to try to prevent her from getting it and both feeling miserable. Something along the lines of "I'm still happy to go ahead with our original plan, but if these last minute changes are dead-set then I won't be attending, but let me know if you do fancy going back to the original plan and we can set a time to meet for that"..
