Ijust completed my first 36 hour fast, and I am simply fascinated with how the body adapts. I discovered what you all probably already know—eating isn’t a “hunger thing,” it is a Its fine to do either long term as long as you have excess fat to lose. Obviously, you will likely see faster results with rolling 48s unless you are able to somehow fit 2-3 meals worth of food into one meal while doing that. I lost 55 pounds in 6 months with ADF (rolling 36:12) highly recommend personally.

Ihave done ADF so 36-42 hour fast with 2 meals on eating days. You will lose more at first due to water weight then it should be 2-3 lbs per week. There is a sub called r/AlternateDayFasting too. Good luck! Be sure to read about electrolytes in the sidebar at r/fasting, then you should be good to go.

bigsledog • 5 yr. ago. If you are already doing 3+ days of water fasting then a 48 hour dry fast should be very doable and is certainly worthwhile. I have found that water fasting is actually harder because the water is flushing all of the electrolytes, in

Its a good question: we really don’t know. To some degree there is always autophagy going on. But, we don’t have any good test to figure out when it really increases in fasting. I’ve seen resources say anywhere from 8 hours to 36. I’m sure there are a lot of variables from person to person. But it doesn’t really matter.

Shortterm fasting has been found to increase insulin sensitivity, while 48-hour fast blood pressure can even decrease. By reducing their caloric intake and abstaining from food for 12 to 48 hours, people can significantly lower the risk of type 2 diabetes and other metabolic issues. Through short-term fasting, overall health can be improved

Ive done 46 hour fasts every other day. Workout>4hour eating window>fast through recovery day>workout fasted> repeat. That’s a good plan! Check out r/fasting as well.
Shortanswer yes. Autophagy is hard to detect, but ideally it occurs after 24 hours of TRUE fasting and peaks at about 72 hours. Remember any metabolite that enters the system at this time can pause autophagy, so it's best to have only water and salts. r/intermittentfasting.
Attemptingmy first 36 hour fast today, encouragement appreciated! I've been doing IF for a little over a year now and the longest fasts I've done have been 24 hours. Typical days for me are 19-22 hour fasts, and as I approach my menstrual cycle I'm more lenient and do shorter fasts depending how I feel. I've lost ~15-18 pounds and have a goal tcADbYJ.
