I suspect the size had an awful lot to do with that- it just looked and felt huge. It's a first world problem: can't go wrong with either. Having said that, a 1290 engine and electronic suspension slotted into the 1190 would be a spectacular bike-- all the 1290 benefits (except the fuel range) without the bulk and (to my eye) less attractive
