116 posts · Joined 2017. #1 · Jul 13, 2017. My RC 390 and my 690 Duke both say the same thing in the owner's manual: Run the engine to normal temperature (or just ride it!), then turn off and wait 1 minute with the bike bolt upright to check the oil level in the glass. It works for me.
At first I was able to make the 690 forks close to the same by simply removing some shims to match closely the EXC. However there is a big difference in how the large chamber and small chamber works. I just gave up and installed the large chamber exc forks and use them very happily. Also I have .48 springs in the EXC. I had the stock .52 in the

The pictured cover looks like my 690 oil filter cover but it doesn't look like the one on the 1190. When i got the new style oil filter for the 1190 I felt that the cover wasn't right for it. My dealer couldn't find any information on a different cover. On the 690 it goes into a recess in the filter to help line it up.
